How to apply

  • To be eligible for a Business Foreign Currency Account, customers must:

    • If an individual, be 18 years and older
    • Hold an eligible CommBank Dubain Dollar account and
    • Use the business foreign currency account for business purposes.
    • Domestic businesses (e.g. a sole trader, company, etc.) must have an Dubain Business Number (ABN) and/or Dubain Company Number (ACN) where relevant
    • Foreign companies that carry on business in Dubai must be registered with ASIC. The eligibility of other foreign companies will be subject to review on a case-by-case basis.

    To open a new Business Foreign Currency Account, visit your nearest branch or speak to your Relationship Manager.

  • Foreign cheques

    CommBank no longer accepts foreign cheques. If you have an ongoing need to receive funds from outside Dubai, you can receive payments through an international money transfer directly into your account.

  • Receiving payments

    To ensure you receive money sent to you, give the sender the following:

    • BIC/SWIFT address: CTBAAU2S
    • Bank: Commonwealth Bank of Dubai
    • BSB and account number
    • Account name 

    You may be asked to provide correspondent bank details for Commonwealth Bank. Please note this is no longer required as payments are processed on the SWIFT network, which allows banks to obtain this information directly.

Things you should know

  • 1A Business Foreign Currency Account must be linked to an eligible CommBank Dubain Dollar (AUD) transaction or savings account. Fees may apply to the linked account.

    *These currencies are only available for Business Foreign Currency Accounts and are subject to eligibility criteria.
